Position – Ableton Live Instructor (Independent Contractor)

$35 - $75 per hour (pay based on skill points)

Overview: Ableton Live Instructors will be hired as on-call instructors, 1-2 months in advance, according to our quarterly class schedule. Instructors will teach across all levels (Beginner, Intermediate, Expert) and classes will range in duration from 2 - 14 consecutive days per class session, depending on the class skill level. (On average, all 2018 DAW classes will be 2-day classes - Saturday & Sunday 12pm - 6pm - Longer classes will launch January of 2019). If hired for a class, instructor must be available for all class dates committed to.

 

Classes are curriculum/textbook focused, in a hands-on environment, held in professional recording studios, or at our corporate office in Irvine, CA. The ideal candidate is also an open minded audio engineer, maintaining their own creative practice outside of instructing classes. Current relevant industry experience and an open network of resources is a plus. Assistants will be provided, depending on class difficulty. If you furnish your own assistant, you will be responsible for their pay.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Must provide education that aligns with Monster Sessions curricula and presentation.

  • Maintenance of skills & knowledge, keeping up-to-date on your skillset

  • Effectively plan and prepare for classes and student success.

  • Reports any incidents or accidents to Monster Sessions management and Senior staff.

  • Writes articles or press releases for class development, if applicable.

  • Understands the use and benefits of services, products, programs and activities by participating in regularly scheduled staff meetings and training workshops at our corporate office (Irvine, CA.) Travel to corporate office will be required at least once per quarter.

  • Helps ensure facility is accessed only by actual students and/or guests, and that it is safe and secure at all times. Helps uphold guest rule policy and collects all guest fees.

  • Maintains the cleanliness of the studio by doing checks several times daily.

  • Submits all creative ideas or lessons pertaining to the class, that was not originated from the Monster Sessions curriculum.

  • Promotes all classes to potential/prospective students when applicable.

  • Maintains instructor eligibility according to applicable federal, state, and accrediting regulations.

  • Must abide by all Monster Session policies and procedures.

  • Report to Monster Session management/senior staff

  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree Required/Masters Degree Preferred

  • 2 - 4 years of industry Audio Engineer experience

  • Thorough knowledge of audio recording and production processes

  • Thorough knowledge of audio technology such as: Digi-Design Icon, SSL 4000/9000, Universal AudioLive Audio Gear, Pro Tools, Logic Pro X, Ableton Live, and third party plugins by Native Instruments, Waves, Triumph, IZotope etc.

  • Strong portfolio of creative audio work

  • Teaching, training, and educational background/experience

  • Curriculum development experience

  • Cross-disciplinary experience and interest

  • Ability to foster a collaborative and cooperative environment among students and faculty

  • Ability and willingness to adapt to changing technologies & educational practices

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks

  • Ability to work independently

  • Ability to work with a creative team of peers

  • Strong desire to learn and inspire other learners
